Social isolation was linked with lower volume in brain areas related to cognition and associated with a higher risk of subsequent dementia as well, a longitudinal study showed.
Among more than 460,000 participants in the U.K. Biobank, social isolation at age 57 was tied to a 26% increased risk of dementia 12 years later, independent of risk factors like loneliness and depression, reported Jianfeng Feng, PhD, of Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and co-authors.… Read the rest

Former Disney actor Stoney Westmoreland received a sentence of two years imprisonment for sex crimes involving minors, officials said Monday.
The 52-year-old actor had starred in the Disney Channel sitcom “Andi Mack,” where he played the 13-year-old protagonist Andi’s grandfather, Ham Mack, before being fired by Disney for trying to liaison with a minor.

An omega-3 fatty acid daily intake of approximately 3 grams, either in the form of supplements or food, may reduce blood pressure, a new meta-analysis suggests.
